Online payments

Accept card payments for your merchants on their website and app.

Build an online payments integration with Datman to take card payments on behalf of your merchants. Datman is a payment service provider that sits on top of multiple acquirers, so you use one set of APIs whichever acquirer processes the payment. Each payment belongs to one merchant, identified by its MID (merchant_id): one shop, one MID. Datman holds the funds in the merchant's Datman account until they are paid out.

Taking payments is the second step in the Datman flow: after you onboard and verify a merchant, you take payments for them, then you can change those payments and pay out the funds.

Build an online payments integration with Datman to:

  • Take card payments on a form that Datman hosts, with no API key in the request, using the Hosted Payment page.
  • Authenticate card payments with 3D Secure.
  • Save a shopper's card and use it again for their next payment.
  • Split a payment between several of your merchants, for example a delivery fee for the delivery partner.
  • Capture, adjust, reverse and refund payments with payment modifications.

Seamless checkout

Transaction types

One-off payments

Take a one-time payment (a sale).

Pre-authorised payments

Authorise an amount now and capture it later, for example when the order is ready. Until you capture it, you can adjust the amount or reverse the authorisation.

Features

Authentication

The payment status webhook tells you whether the shopper was authenticated, in three_ds_authenticated.

Saved cards

Save a shopper's card so they can pay faster next time. With the Hosted Payment page, saved cards are linked to the customer_id you send.

Split payments

Send split instructions with the payment to pay part of the amount to other Datman merchants. Each split names the receiving merchant (partner_merchant_id) and a commission type (type_id). You can get the commission types with List split commission types.

One platform

When you have an online payments integration with Datman, you can:

  • Take payments through multiple acquirers using one set of APIs.
  • Receive one payment status webhook format for every payment.
  • Look up payments, refunds and splits for all your merchants with the Transactions API.

Integration architecture

A complete online payments integration with Datman consists of the following parts:

Payments server

Builds the payment request and sends it to Datman. For the Hosted Payment page, your server encrypts the payment details. Your server also makes the modification requests.

Client website or app

Sends the shopper to the Hosted Payment page, where the shopper enters their card details.

Webhook server

Receives the payment status webhook from Datman for each payment. Use the webhook, not the shopper's redirect, as the final status of a payment. See Webhooks to verify the signature.

Your integration: the Hosted Payment page

Your server encrypts the payment details with your secret key. Your website then redirects the shopper's browser to the Datman URL with the encrypted details. The shopper pays on the Datman-hosted form, and Datman redirects them back to you. You make no API request, and card details never reach your servers. Take the final status of each payment from the payment status webhook.
