Verification statuses

Learn which statuses show where your merchants are in verification, and what they can do.

Every merchant has a set of statuses that show how far it is through verification, and what it can do, for example whether payouts are enabled. Datman sets these statuses based on the results of the verification checks.

To get the statuses of a merchant, you can:

Onboarding areas

Datman verifies each merchant in separate areas. Each area has its own status field.

AreaStatus fieldDescription
Businessbusiness_statusWhether the business details are verified.
Ownersowners_status (owner_status in the portfolio list)Whether the owner details are verified.
Bankbank_statusWhether the bank account details are verified.
Terms of servicetos_statusWhether the merchant has accepted the terms of service.
Payoutspayout_statusWhether payouts are enabled for the merchant.
Accountaccount_statusWhether the merchant's account is active, or closed or suspended.

A merchant is fully verified when its business, owner and bank details are verified, it has accepted the terms of service, its account is active and payouts are enabled.

When an area is not verified, the onboarding status lists what is needed in missing_details (grouped by category, for example bank issues) and in the errors array.

Verification tiers

Until your merchant is fully verified, they are on a verification tier. The tier is in the verification_tier field.

TierDescription
Tier 1The merchant has processed up to 1,000 in total. Bank account details and personal details are required.
Tier 2The merchant has processed more than 1,000, up to 5,000 in total. Business details and ID documents are also required.

Above 5,000, supporting bank documents are also required to be fully verified. For the full rules, see Staggered onboarding.

In the portfolio list, the status fields are numbers. The following table explains the values.
